Welcome to the team Victoria!
Willberry recently caught up with Professor Allie Gartland from The University of Sheffield who runs the first lab that Willberry granted his #kickingcancersbutt funds too.
Excitingly she mentioned her newest recruit, Victoria - as a team we are super excited to welcome her onto our mission to kick osteosarcoma's butt!!
Victoria completed her bachelor’s degree in Medical Biochemistry and master’s degree in Molecular Medicine, both at The University of Sheffield. She was then awarded a UPGRC scholarship to carry out research funded by Hannah’s Willberry Wonder Pony.
As a first year PhD student in Professor Alison Gartland’s group, she is working on part of a larger project that aims to tackle chemotherapy resistant osteosarcoma. Currently, this involves developing a model of chemotherapy resistance, so that she can later screen over 4,400 drugs.
From this, her group aims to better understand why osteosarcoma becomes resistant to treatment and find new drugs that could benefit these patients. #kickingcancersbutt.
Osteosarcoma definitely picked the wrong girl when they found Hannah, and now it's feeling the force of her legacy.
